It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we say goodbye to Philip J. Argento, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
He leaves his devoted wife, Nadine (Loving) Argento, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his children, Michael J. Argento, of Shrewsbury, and Debra M. SanClemente, of West Boylston; his grandchildren, Phylisha Dell'Ovo of Worcester, Kalie Argento of North Carolina, Julia SanClemente of Denver, Colorado, Skylar Argento of Chicago, Illinois, Analise M. SanClemente of West Boylston, and Matthew J. SanClemente of West Boylston; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Dell'Ovo, Alexander Dell'Ovo, and Kaison Argento; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends from Shrewsbury. He was predeceased by his beloved son, James Philip Argento, and his siblings, Mary Ann Ross and Lucia Lambert.
Phil was born in Worcester, son of the late Enrico and Mary (Mastrodonato) Argento. He was raised in Shrewsbury and attended Shrewsbury High School, graduating with the Class of 1957. Phil then enlisted in the U.S. Navy that year, and served his country proudly for two years. He served as a firefighter for the Town of Shrewsbury, starting in 1967 and retiring in 1999, while also working as a tile setter for many years for private clients.
Best known for his quick wit, ability to make people laugh, and an endless supply of stories, Phil enjoyed visiting friends and entertaining a crowd. He had a knack for turning everyday moments into unforgettable tales and could brighten any room with a joke, or just by being mischievous. While he may no longer be with us, his stories, laughter, and legendary sense of humor will live on forever in the hearts of those who know him.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 4 – 7 PM at the BRITTON SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.

I am so sorry to hear about Phil. I worked with him on the Fire Department. He would always have something funny to say, or to tease me or others. I live in AZ now so I could not make his service.
I will always remember him and his sense of humor.
My condolences to Nadine and family'

My name is Paul Debs. I deeply regret the passing of who I consider
my closest friend for the last 72 years. I am truly sorry I cannot be at his services. I live in south Florida and must have a much needed heart
procedure in the Hospital this Thursday. Phil would visit me here almost every year since 1988. The stories and good times we had together would
fill many pages if written out. such good, funny, crazy, times with many
tricks and jokes we pulled off since the 8th grade. Memories of when we
would peel a 50 lb. bag of onions for one dollar each when the family had the spagetti sauce business when we were 13 and 14, betting the dollar on who would shed tears first! I could go on for hours with stories, we had such great times right up until so recently.
My condolences go out to Nadine, Michael, and Debbie and their families.
The last thing I must truly say is that He was the Brother I never had,
and I will miss Him for the rest of my days. We will meet again when the
Lord God takes us home one by one. I'm absolutely sure of that.
May God bless all of you who are at his services.
