Linda Bennett

Linda Madsen Bennett, born December 9, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hazen Darell Madsen and Maurine Andrus, passed away on November 4, 2023.
Oh the stories we could tell you about Linda, but if you knew Linda, you would have your own stories to tell. She was so full of life. No one who came into her life could come out the same person. You knew that you were loved and accepted for who you were. She was very inquisitive and wanted to know everything about you so she could spend quality time with you.
Linda married Dale Lee Bennett on May 22, 1967 in Murray Utah. Within 2 months, they dated, were engaged, basic training for the Army, and married. Dale enlisted in the Army and was sent to Vietnam. She said that they were married 3 ½ years and only spent a total of a year together. But their marriage lasted 56 years before Dale preceded her in death February 15th, 2023. They had a very beautiful marriage which gave them 3 amazing children. Shane, Travis and Liberty. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for Time and All Eternity.
She loved animals. She especially loved riding her horse Apache. She talked of him even into her final days. She started college wanting to be a Veterinarian. But when she met Dale, that all changed. She then had jobs mostly doing office work. She worked for the City of West Jordan in Utah, The Department of Energy and the Salt Lake Community College. She had a love for swimming. She taught swimming lessons for 35 years. One of her students swam the Triple Crown of Open Water. She was an excellent teacher.
She would spend hours with her best friend, Maurisa Defu, making doll clothes and quilts. Sometimes until 5am.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings of responsibility but her absolute favorite was her last calling. She was the Secretary of the Primary in her ward. She loved who she served with and all the children who loved her.
Linda loved to travel. All of these dreams were fulfilled with her beautiful daughter Liberty. She always said they were very special times because they did them together. She fulfilled her dream of going to Russia and standing in Red Square. She visited Egypt and her favorite trip was to China. She got to walk on the Great Wall, see the Terra Cotta Soldiers, and shop the streets of Shanghai.
She loved to hunt, fish, camp and dirt bike, anything outdoors. She did all of these things with her boys, including, spending 31 years at the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous. She looked forward to that time of year anxiously. She won knife and tomahawk throw competitions. She entered cooking contests, never winning, but volunteered to be a judge.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dale Lee Bennett, parents, Hazen and Maurine Madsen, Sister Stacy Madsen, nieces, Valerie and Jennifer West.
Survived by her children Shane (Sharon) Bennett, Travis (Nichole) Bennett and Liberty Trausch. Grandchildren: Shantel (Nick) Bradshaw, Jordan (Tori) Bennett, Shawn (Alisha) Bennett, Arika Bennett, Trissa Bennett, Taegan Bennett, Talon Bennett, Kenneth Trausch. Great Grandchildren: Haily, Kenzlee, Gavin, Hunter, Gunnar, Kaden and Kolton. Siblings, Karen, Harlan and Carla.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday November 10th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 7171 S 2700 W, West Jordan, Utah.
