Olinda “Linda” (Bender) Coe, 94, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at McPherson Health & Rehab.
Mrs. Coe was born Olinda Bender on March 5, 1930, to David H. Bender and Mary (Dietz) Bender in Russell, KS.
She lived in Salina, KS for many years before moving to McPherson. On January 31, 1981, she married Robert R. Coe of McPherson, KS. They were married for almost 31 years prior to his passing on January 20, 2012.
She was employed at Schilling AFB, Interstate Finance, the law firm of Hampton & Royce LC of Salina, and was a secretary for her husband’s firm, Robert R. Coe, CPA, in McPherson.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, K-State Ahearn Fund Victory Club, American Bowling Congress, and Legal Secretaries of Salina. She was a past officer of the McPherson Country Club Ladies Golf Association.
She enjoyed attending KSU sporting events, especially football and tailgating. She also had a passion for bowling.
Survivors include a very dear step-son, Robert “Rob” W. Coe; step-daughter, Caren A. Sparks (Buster); a granddaughter, Dr. Kelsie Coe (Parker); and many nieces, nephews, and friends who were all dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Tabea Bender and Hilda Dietz; brothers, Harold Bender, Ruben Bender, and Ernest Bender; nephews, Danny, Dale, Ronnie, & Randy Dietz and Gary Bender; and nieces, Janice Bender and Barb Dietz.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson. A graveside service will held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Bender Hill (Trinity Lutheran) Cemetery in Russell County, Kansas.
Memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church or K-State Ahearn Fund in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
