Linda Marie (Oliphant) Cretin

February 18, 1948 – November 1, 2025

Linda Marie (Oliphant) Cretin, a devoted Roman Catholic, loving wife, the best mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on February 18, 1948, in Sacramento, California, Linda was the cherished daughter of H.M."Olly" Oliphant and Elizabeth (Eberhard) Oliphant. She graduated in 1966 from St. Francis Catholic School and spent most of her life in the Sacramento area.

On February 17, 1979, Linda married Raymond Cretin. Together they raised two children, Teresa and Christopher. Linda's greatest joys in life came from her family, especially her granddaughters, Kristen and Jemmalee Saling. She was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. She never missed cheering Kristen on when she played in the band and took great joy in helping Jemma obtain her first horse and watching her ride.

Linda had a lifelong love of animals and found companionship in her beloved cat, Jack. She was known for her kind and gentle spirit, her compassion for others, and her deep faith, which guided her through every challenge.

In 2009, Linda moved to Oregon to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters. Despite facing chronic illness for much of her life, she was a fighter and she met each day with courage, grace, and faith. She passed away at home on hospice care surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Olly and Elizabeth Oliphant; her brother, Olly Oliphant Jr; and her husband, Raymond Cretin.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Saling (Kelly); her son, Christopher Cretin; her granddaughters, Kristen and Jemmalee Saling; her dear sisters-in-law, Denise (Cretin) Fisher and Janice Oliphant; her nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Jack.

Linda's life was a reflection of love, devotion, and quiet strength. She was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, playing games on one of her many kindles, and eating her favorite treat, salt water taffy. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kindness, and the deep care she showed to everyone around her.

A graveside memorial celebrating Linda's life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento, CA on Friday November 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Catholic charity in her memory.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
