Sis. Linda Wright Dunbar was born August 3, 1949, in Kershaw, County SC; the only daughter of the late Mr. Stamples and Sis. Mamie Grace Wright of Kershaw County. She departed this life at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, CT on Saturday, January 20, 2024. She will be lovingly in the memory of her children, grandchildren, brothers, all family and many other close friends and loved ones as well.
She was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County and graduated from Franklin Lane High School in New York. She furthered her education and Administrative Skills and began employment at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. She later worked for Peoples Bank in Bridgeport, CT as well as Walgreen's until she became retirement eligible. She was later fortunate to become a full-time mother and housewife to her beautiful family.
She enjoyed cooking and was an avid gardener, planting flowers and vegetables for her family and others. She loved completing word search puzzles, looking through magazines, playing the piano at the Brooklyn New York church and worked with the young girls at the church there. She was indeed a beautiful singer like her mother, Sis. Mamie Grace, before her. Her family recalls that she loved to sing and play the organ at home as well.
She was a member of The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles' Doctrine, Inc., Linda was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost while in her youth, and remained a faithful member of the Brooklyn, New York branch church until her health failed. She also worked in the kitchen and helped to prepare food for the travelers of the Eastern Tour to Brooklyn. She also traveled to Hartsville Church for the Conventions and worked in the kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulyses Dunbar Jr. ; her parents; Mr. Stamples and Sis. Mamie G. Wright, her brother, Stanford Wright.
On November 24, 1973, she was joined in matrimony to Mr. Ulyses Dunbar Jr. and to this union, three children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories: Her children; Priscilla, Adrienne and Ulyses Dunbar, III, all of Bridgeport, CT. She also leaves her grand-children: Rashid, Ky'Ana, Brianna, Jaden, Lillyanna, Nisaa, Kasim, Zayin and Zariah. She also leaves six brothers: Walter (Brenda) Wright of Charlotte, NC, Danny (Bessie) Wright of Heath Springs, SC, Kenny Wright of Greer, SC, Gary (Geraldine) Wright of Charlotte, NC, Alton (Diane) Wright of Charlotte, NC and Christopher Wright of Kershaw, SC. She also leaves three brothers-in-law: Tommy Dunbar of California; Sammy Dunbar of Bridgeport, CT and Timothy (Margie) Dunbar of Ansonia, CT, as well as one sister-in-law, Penny Dunbar Joseph.
To all her sisters-in-Christ and to Sis. Barbara McLain of Philadelphia, Pa, Sis. Diane Wright, Sis. Tammy McMillan, Sis. Barbara Easterling and Sis. Irene Easterling, Catherine Douglas and Dorothy Thomas. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including a large church family.
