Linda passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Nacogdoches. She was born on December 26, 1947 in Nacogdoches.
Linda was a daughter, sister and friend to many but her most important and treasured role as a woman was being a wife and mother. She loved her husband and children more than life itself. She was their biggest supporter and encouraged them to always strive to be better than they were yesterday. She was fun and most of the time was the life of the party but when she needed to be, she was also the sensible one who helped everyone make good choices. She knew she was blessed with a wonderful extended family as her children grew up and married. She spent every minute she could with the ones she held dear. Her life was filled with countless memories but the most recent ones were made with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as the "Maw Maw" in their lives. They were the light in her eyes and joy in her heart. She knew the real meaning of "you love grandchildren different because you are only responsible for making them happy!" And spoiling them was her best attribute!
Although family was first in her life, she also enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing crosswords. She was most often found sitting on her porch with her cup of coffee, enjoying the simplicity of her surroundings. She was perfectly happy with her family nearby, enjoying her dumplings or her famous chicken and dressing but ultimately, SOMEONE better bring her cup of coffee (and occasional margarita)! Linda never met a stranger and was sure to have new friends after each outing or adventure. She also was happy to stay in touch with everyone through Facebook which also brought her new friends along the way.
Linda will always be remembered for her outgoing spirit and the mother who was entirely dedicated to her children and the families they brought her. Her love and compassion will continue to shine through her boys and her daughter, as they live their lives in hopes of being as giving and kind as the most important woman in their lives showed them how to be.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Fountain Shinn; sons, Terry Fountain & wife Kea, Jesse Fountain & wife Theresa and Jeremy Fountain & wife Britni; grandchildren, Christina Lakey & husband Ryan, Amber Jackson & husband Gary, Blake Fountain, Savannah Davis & husband Kyle, Corey Fountain, Rebecca Sands & husband, Bailey, Brylee Phillips, Trevor Fountain, Cayson Bendy, Braxyn Bendy, Isaiah Watts and Kristina Watts; great grandchildren, Khyleigh, Kaden, Karter, Haven and Alexandria; brother, Johnny Parker & wife Glenda; half-sister, Sherry Blevins; sisters-in-law, Billie Jacobs, Polly Rutherford and Doris Fountain; brothers-in-law, William Havard and Jerry Fountain & wife Ruth.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Granvil Terry Fountain; parents, James Nelson and Edna Faye Henderson Parker; brother, James Gipson and her husbands beloved brothers and sisters who passed before her that she dearly loved.
