Linda Dale (Herring) Gumbel, 80, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away March 12, 2025 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She was born November 30, 1944 in San Francisco, CA to the late Alexander and Alice (Breiner) Herring.
Linda retired in 2010 from the United States Postal Service after over 30 years of delivering mail. She loved a good yard sale and spending time with her family. Linda also enjoyed baking during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Gumbel in 2013; sons, Robert E. Gumbel, Jr. in 1963 and Shawn Gumbel in 2022; and her brother, David Herring.
She is survived by her daughter, Gena Beloat; son, Troy Gumbel (Anita); grandchildren, Fawn, Blace and Meagan Gumbel; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Mason and Addison Delano, Easton, Linden and Baylor Mullis; sister, Nathalie Miller; brother, Tim Herring; nieces, Lori Cook and Allison Herring; and a nephew, Josh Stone.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 28, 2025 at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 70360, Philadelphia, PA 19176-0360.
