It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Linda Evans Johnson, who left us on Friday, October 31st, 2025, at the age of 77. Linda was a cherished resident of Dunwoody, Georgia, where she created a life filled with love, dedication, and community service.
Linda was born on January 2nd, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama. She was a beacon of knowledge and compassion, dedicating her life to shaping young minds as a school teacher for the Dekalb County Board of Education. Her passion for education and her students' success left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to learn from her.
A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), Linda's commitment to service and her community was evident in all she did. She embodied the core values of sisterhood and service, inspiring many with her unwavering dedication and kindness.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Houston Ray Johnson. Together, they built a family foundation rooted in love and mutual respect. Although Linda's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared will continue to flourish among her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.
The family invites you to join in a time of visitation at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home - Flat Shoals Location in Decatur, Georgia, on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor and remember Linda's vibrant spirit at Berean Christian Church Gwinnett in Snellville, Georgia, on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 11:00 am. Linda will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, on Monday, November 17th, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Arrangements have been lovingly made through Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory- South Dekalb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda's memory to a scholarship fund supporting young women's education, continuing Linda's legacy of fostering growth and opportunity for future generations.
Linda is survived by a host of cherished family members and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and unwavering dedication to her family, students, and community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
