Linda Ann Kowalczyk-Smelser, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the age of 69. Cherished daughter of the late Walter J. Kowalczyk, Sr. and the late Rose Kowalczyk; devoted mother of John (Erin) Smelser, Patrick (Shannon) Smelser, Sherry Russell and Michelle (Jim) Martin; loving grandmother of Ashley Smelser, Chaney Smelser, Jayden Smelser, Jason Smelser, Jordyn Smelser, Makenzie Smelser and John Russell, IV; treasured great-grandmother of Jaxon Overy and Zayn Helmy; dear sister of Margaret Krueger, Betty Legamaro, Joseph Kowalczyk, William Kowalczyk, Carol Meyerhoff, Paul Kowalczyk, Steve Kowalczyk. Linda is preceded in death by her former husband, Wayne Smelser; her brothers, Walter Kowalczyk, Jr., Frank Kowalczyk, Jerry Kowalczyk, Richard Kowalczyk, Thomas Kowalczyk and sister, Mary Tiefenbruch.
Linda worked for 42 years at Hussmann Refrigeration and retired in 2020. Since retirement she enjoyed traveling with her family, specifically cruises, her favorite being to Alaska. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, Cardinals Baseball and the Muny. She loved her family and grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. Linda loved like no other and would do anything for anybody. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Linda's name to American Cancer Society for lung cancer research.
