Sadly, our beloved, mother, grandma, friend, Linda LaPorte, 78, of Rome, WI, has finished her race, she received her checkered flag and passed away on July 16th, 2025 surrounded by family and special friends.

Linda was born on April 18, 1948 to Eleanor and Gordon Hackett in Waukesha, WI. After graduating from Waukesha High School, she moved with her small daughter (Lisa) to Wausau, WI, where she worked at Marathon County Social Services.

On April 16th, 1983 she married the love of her life, Jerome W LaPorte. Linda was predeceased by her father, Gordon, her mother, Eleanor, her brother Dean and her husband Jerome. She is survived by daughter, Lisa, (Phillip Baldys), Grandson, Tyler Hackett, Grand daughters, Macie Gilbertson and Kennedy Gilbertson, (Isaac Pelot) and great grandson Deckyn Hackett. Linda also leaves behind other relatives, and dear friends she called family.

Linda was kind, loving and funny. She wore her heart on her sleeve, she loved deeply and would help anyone she could (especially her family).

Linda lived in many places throughout her life, but no matter the city or town, she made it home by turning strangers into lifelong friends. Her heart was open, her laugh was contagious, and once you met her, you loved her.

Some of her favorite memories were times with her husband, Jerome, nights surround by race family under racetrack lights, around the pool at Deer Trail Park Campground and in the cities she called home, Mosinee, BRF and Hatfield. Linda found joy in the simple moments - a cold diet Pepsi and cigarette on her deck, chatting with friends. Reading a good book, sitting poolside, time with family and most recently the years she got to spend with her great grandson Deckyln, who brought her unmatched joy and pride. He was the light of her life and she lived for the weekends she got to spend with him.

Now, with her race behind her, she's is strolling through heaven hand in hand with Jerome, surrounded by the love she gave so generously here on earth.

Per her wishes, no funeral will be held. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date - a gathering full of laughter and memories. Just the way she would've wanted it.

Thank you to everyone who shared in her life - family, her close friends, her racing family, her DTP family her friends from Mosinee, BRF, Hatfiled and all those who loved her along the way.

We already miss her, but know we will see her again one day.

Linda was such a wonderful, sassy, spirited woman. We had such nice conversations around the pool through the years. Lisa and family, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. She was special and I am sure it will be hard without her. Hugs to all of you, she loved you all so very much!
