Linda Lodin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2024.
Linda M. Lodin, age 71, passed away November 2, 2024, at her home in Santee, CA, with her family by her side following a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Parkinsons.

She was born June 1. 1953, in Waynesburg, PA, the daughter of the late Richard V. and Margaret (Wiley) Morgan.

She graduated at the top of her class at Waynesburg Central High School in 1971, being named "Girl of the Year". Linda was an American Field Service exchange student in Germany one summer, the beginning of her love of travel.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy, she began a successful 50-year pediatric practice specializing in infants and children. Linda loved babies, and helping little ones with physical difficulties.

She began her career in Toms River, NJ, before serving as a physical therapist with the Peace Corps in Brazil for 3 years and continued to practice privately for two additional years.

Returning to work in Fort Lauderdale, FL in the Neonate center at Broward County Hospital, she met her future husband Bill who was serving in the Navy. After marrying in 1984, they moved to Japan for 3 years where Linda set up and began the first pediatric physical therapy program for military dependents in Japan. She was hired by DOD with an 02 pay grade (1st Lieutenant). It is still in operation today. Upon returning to the States they settled in the San Diego, CA area. Linda was a valued, long-time member of the staff at Rady Children's Hospital for 36 years. She and Bill taught Sunday school together for 21 years at Pathways Church in Santee, CA. During their married life together, Bill and Linda, accompanied by their children, enjoyed traveling the world and visited Australia, The Bahamas, Costa Rica, Cancun, Cozumel, Nepa land Thailand as well as numerous National Parks and iconic locations in the United States. Linda loved to camp with her family. She really enjoyed crossword puzzles.

In addition to William Lodin, her husband of 40 years, Linda is survived by four children: Matthew Lodin (Jenna), Aaron Lodin, Katey Lodin and Sean Lodin and three grandchildren: Aidan, Emmett and Cailin Lodin. She is also survived by six siblings: Mary Beth Pastorius (Connor Cogswell), Dan Morgan (Cecilia), Joyce Winters (Bill), Mark Morgan (Lisa), Matt Morgan (Susan Federoff) and Marcy Walker (Kenneth), 22 nieces and nephews and 28 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister June Edgar.

After 50 years working in the medical field, it was Linda's fervent wish to have her remains donated to the University of California Medical School. Linda will be eulogized and remembered at Our Lady of Confidence Church in San Diego, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego-Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

I met Linda in 1996 at the East County office of Children's in La Mesa when my son was 8 months old. She was his physical therapist. LInda was a kind, caring and wonderful person. When my son passed away in 2002 she came to his funeral and I will never forget that. My heart goes out to the entire family. May LInda rest in peace. May God lift you all up in prayer and give you some peace during this time. Sincerely, Alisen and Howard Gross
