Linda Lee Franke Stupka Hammitt Olson, 77, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at home following a long and courageous battle with ALS. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Living Hope Wesleyan Church, located at 1500 Boyson Road NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa.
Linda was born on October 26, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Harriet Lavon (Shultz) Franke. She was a graduate of Rockford High School. Over the course of her life, she worked for Robert Burdette's Attorney’s office, First Citizens National Bank, Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, and Gehring Orthodontics. Linda was united in marriage to Wayne Stupka on June 13, 1965; to Cecil Hammitt on November 18, 1989; and to Thomas Olson on July 4, 1997. Throughout her life, Linda’s faith and compassion guided her every step. She was deeply involved in her church and community, serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, an AWANA leader, a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, and a member of the mission committee. She also served as Outreach Director and board member for Chains Interrupted and participated in several mission trips close to her heart. Linda was a dedicated 4-H leader, Vice President of the Cowbells in New Hampton, and a proud member of the Docs Dancers group. She devoted many years to emergency services as an EMT-D and ambulance driver, always ready to help those in need. Later, she found great joy volunteering in the NICU at St. Luke’s Hospital, where she lovingly held and comforted premature babies. Even as she struggled with her own battles, Linda remained passionate about serving others. She found great joy in providing snacks for a youth group that serves at-risk kids. Linda’s life was one of service, kindness, and unwavering love for others.
Linda is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 28 years, Tom; children, Teresa (Jay) Davidson of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Michelle) Stupka of Coal Valley, Illinois, Trisha (Michael) Hammitt of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Troy (Lindsay) Stupka of Anamosa, Iowa; step-children, Anthony (Felicia) Olson of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Wendy (Aaron) Johnson of Watertown, South Dakota; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Deb) Franke of Charles City, Iowa; and best lifelong friend, Kathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husbands, Wayne and Cecil.
