Linda Diana Rehmert

Linda's Story

Linda Diana Daves was born January 30, 1956, in Cortez, Colorado, the daughter of Floyd and Glennis

Daves. She was the 11th of 12 children: 5 girls and 7 boys. Linda passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age

of 69.

Linda was proud to be a Bulldog and attended Dove Creeks schools for her entire education. Upon

graduation in 1974, she went to a drafting school in Monte Vista for two years. After completion, she

moved back to Dove Creek and worked at the State Line Tourist Trap for Lawrence and Jewell Calliham

and part time for Dolores County starting in 1981.

During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Paul Rehmert. Paul was a friend and coworker

of her brother Eddie. Paul came to Dove Creek on a hunting trip where he not only spotted deer, but

also Linda. They married June 30, 1984. After the mines shut down, the couple moved to Lafayette,

Colorado where she worked as a McDonald's manager and at Montgomery Wards.

A short time later, Paul and Linda moved back to Dove Creek and Linda began her full-time career with

Dolores County in 1988. Her time at Dolores County began in the Commissioner's Office, later

transferring to the Assessor's Office, then to Road & Bridge in 2001. Linda loved working with the road

crew, always referring to them as "my guys".

Linda was a valuable member of the community. Linda served on the Ambulance Board and was an

ambulance driver for that service years ago. She served on the Fair Board and Town Board, she was a

dispatcher, teacher's aide at Egnar, and a coach. She was a dedicated member of the ladies' sorority

group. Most of all, Linda was a loyal Bulldog fan. She loved supporting the boys and girls in their sports.

In 2019, Linda was nominated for the Community Voice "Saluting Excellence Award." The first sentence

stated, "Walk in a room where Linda is, and you can find her instantly by her laugh."

Linda loved Dove Creek and Dolores County. She gave everything within herself as a county employee

to the success of the staff. She served the county for nearly 40 years.

Paul and Linda were married for 34 years. In that time, they camped, hunted, fished, and attended

many family and friends' gatherings. Paul Jr., son-in-law, and Tammy daughter in law, moved to Dove

Creek before their grandson was born. Linda and Paul were so proud of their grandson, Jacob Rehmert.

Family meant everything to Linda. Her nieces and nephews were precious to her. She always attended

every celebration of theirs. After her brother Bobby Joe's death, Linda and Paul took extra care of his

girls. Linda was a great caretaker during those years when Paul was sick. Paul and Linda had two

Schnauzers they loved dearly, Pepper Jordan Daves and Jordan Daves. Linda had a big heart and was so

generous to each member of the family and her friends.

Linda and Oma were always up for some great adventure. Their nicknames, Thelma and Louise, show

their quest to travel and have fun.

Linda loved holidays and made the best pecan pie. She loved decorating for these events. She loved the

color red. Christmas was her favorite holiday, until Paul passed on Christmas Day of 2018.

Linda was a woman of many interests and talents. Her favorite football teams were the Dallas Cowboys

and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She loved Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Linda kept her yard so nice and

neat. She has created some beautiful diamond artwork. She loved bears and knickknacks. She had

enough of both to have a knickknack store.

Linda had many close friends in our community. She loved spending time with them at Bangers.

To family, friends, and community she will always be Aunt Linda.

Linda is survived by son-in-law Paul Jr, and Tammy, and grandson Jacob Rehmert, sister Earlene White,

sister Kay Daves, brother Woodie and Arlene Daves, sisters-in-laws Kay A. Daves, Susie Wofford, Peggy

Daves, Charlotte Daves, and Margret Daves, and MANY MANY nieces and nephews, and cousins. She is

also survived by 4 brothers-in-law: Steve Rehmert, Jack Rehmert, Rodney Rehmert, and Dennis Rehmert

and their families.

Linda is preceded in death by a child, her husband Paul Rehmert, father Floyd Daves, and mother

Glennis Daves, Paul's parents Dick and Betty Rehmert, sister Sue Dunigan, brother Bobby Joe, brother

James Daves, sister Beverly Wood, brother Wayne Daves, brother Stanley Daves, brother Eddie Daves,

brother Marlin Daves, and brother-in-law Mike Rehmert. Also, by several nieces and nephews: Dallas

Daves, Mandy Daves, Willie Daves, Randy Howell, Madison Podgornoff, Dustin Brown, Jr. and James

Matthew Wood.

Linda loved to laugh and have fun. She often told people when leaving them: "Glad you got to see me!"

She loved the ball games and yelling at the refs. We will miss her place in the Dawg House Gym and her

place in our lives. We love you, Aunt Linda.
