Linda Kay Scruggs, 72, of Carmel, Indiana, died January 1, 2026. She was born on August 15, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Frank and Alma (Hoffman) Scruggs.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her two sisters, Sandra Schmidt and Lorene Rowland.

Survivors include Marcella Buchanan, Pamela Stutz (Rob), Ruth Scruggs, Patricia Alvey, Thomas Scruggs and many nephews and nieces. Her loving, extended family include, Dave and Catherine Anderson and their children and grandchildren, Patricia Anderson, Kirsten Hansen Day, Hugo Anderson Day, Sofia Anderson Day, Erik and Megan Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Luke Anderson, Christopher and Claire Anderson, Marshall Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, John and Emma Anderson, Jack Anderson, Moria Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Laura Anderson, and Mark Anderson

Linda is a graduate of the class of 1973 from Presentation Academy. Following graduation, Linda joined the Order of the Little Sisters of the Poor. For more than 45 years, Linda remained a loyal, dedicated and faithful servant to God. After her departure from the Little Sisters of the Poor, Linda continued God's work through her deeds of love and kindness.

From a very young age, Linda was unique. Her passion in life was to serve God. In return, He blessed her with the love of people, dancing, card playing, and Elvis. Her smiles and laughter were infectious, and she could light up any room with her loving smile and positive energy. Linda always saw the best in people, she never judged, and she accepted each person as a gift from God. Each day was an opportunity to embrace life through God's grace. It should be noted that Linda loved the Catholic Community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The people of Carmel showed Linda love and kindness and friendships that radiated within her.

Linda's memberships and volunteer work included: Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary, Volunteer at Merciful Help Center and Participated in Walking with Purpose Women's Bible Study.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, January 7, 2025 from 9 am to 11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel.

Burial will take place at 2:30 pm in Our Lady of Peace cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Merciful Help Center, 1045 West 146th Street, Suite A, Carmel IN 46032 or McGivney Health Care Center c/o Gibault Children's Service, 6401 S US HWY 41, Terre Haute, IN 47802-4749.
