Linda Carol Self

Linda Smith Self, born August 26, 1945, in Chatham County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer on July 1, 2025. She was 79 years old.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Talmadge and Decie Smith, and her sister, Doris Blanchard. She is survived by her devoted children, son Tim Snider (Wanda), and daughter Sharon Hobson; her cherished granddaughter, Haley Hobson; and her loving brothers, Newby Smith and Frank Smith.
Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a child at First United Methodist Church in Liberty, NC. Throughout her life, she was a faithful member of Oakley Baptist Church in Siler City and later Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro, where she continued to grow in her faith and serve her community.
A lady with an entrepreneurial spirit, Linda owned and operated a Sears Merchant Store in the 1970's. Later, she earned her real estate broker's license and worked in mortgage lending until her retirement
In her later years, Linda lived at Guilford House Assisted Living, where she was a beloved resident and served as the President of the Resident Council. Her vibrant personality and compassionate heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Linda never met a stranger - her sweet spirit, quick wit, and genuine acceptance of others made her a friend to many and a light in every room she entered.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
There will be a funeral service to honor Linda's life @11:00 am on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Triad Funeral Service Chapel. There will be a private graveside service for Family at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Beacon Place program of AuthoraCare Collective, 2504 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
