Linda E. (Forsthoffer) Slawecki, of Richboro, passed away at The Birches at Newtown, on August 3, 2025. She was 83.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Eleanor Forsthoffer. She was the beloved wife of Raymond E. Slawecki. Together they shared 62 years of marriage. She is also survived by her children, Tania Slawecki and her husband Eugene Bazan, of Lemont; Darren Slawecki and his wife Lodina, of Doylestown; and Melissa Huddler of Levittown; her grandchildren, Glen Slawecki, Elizabeth Huddler, and Teresa Huddler; and her sister, Carolyn Farrell (William), of Williamstown, NJ.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother and Catholic who will be remembered for her wit, humor, creativity and musical talents. A graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia, she went on to study music at Temple University where she sang in the Temple University Choir. Her true passion was to study early elementary education as her calling was to be a mother and to nurture children. She eloped in the last semester of her senior year at Temple to marry Raymond Slawecki in February 1963.
Linda and Ray moved out of Philadelphia with their first two children, Tania (Tammy) and Darren, to Croydon, where Melissa (Missy) was born. Linda sewed clothing for her children, made Halloween costumes for them, made the most beautiful Easter baskets for them and always made Christmas very magical. She encouraged her children in numerous endeavors beyond scholarly, including dance, music, and in social ways – Brownies and Girl Scouts for the girls, and serving a as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts for Darren. She taught piano to local children and continued to play classical pieces for her family to enjoy. She sang beautifully but it was purely for the privilege of her family to enjoy, aside from singing during Mass at church.
The family had a house built in
Richboro, PA in 1976. Linda began to work in the Council Rock School District in order to earn additional income to support college costs. She worked initially as a cafeteria worker, and then as a substitute teacher. She then became a teacher's assistant in the special needs classroom and in the severely emotionally disturbed children's classroom. Linda cared deeply for all of the children with whom she interacted and did her best to educate and care for them. After retiring from the school district, she assisted her husband with the startup of his health food business, Holly Hill Health Foods, where her creativity and numerous skills were put to use. Linda enjoyed attending bible study at St. Vincent de Paul church with her husband. She drew upon her Catholic faith throughout her life and shared her faith with her family whenever possible.
By April 2022, Linda could not be cared for by her family and had to move into memory care. Linda was known in memory care for her love of babydolls: her mothering instincts remained strong until the very end. Linda's musical talents also served her well as she entertained herself daily in the care facilities with rhythmic tunes to which her body moved and that she quietly sang to herself and to those who visited or cared for her. Her life-long aptitude for song and dance uniquely animated her until very near the end.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation in celebration of Linda's life on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Linda would wish donations to be made to a pro-life organization or EWTN, the Catholic television station.
