Charles Webster Obituary
Charles Lynn Webster (1936-2025)
Charles (Chuck) was born in Philadelphia to parents Charles Linden and Gertrude Marie Webster. He had a happy childhood in Philadelphia playing street baseball, bike riding and roller skating with his friends.
After high school, He was recruited into the Marine Corp. by Leon Williams (who later became his brother-in-law) and served from 1954 until 1957. He was stationed in Japan and was a crew chief for early jet fighter aircraft. He also qualified as expert sharpshooter.
While home after his deployment, Chuck met Theresa at a dance in Northeast Philadelphia. He was smitten with Terry, telling his mother he met a girl prettier than Elizabeth Taylor. He decided not to re-enlist in the Marines. They were married in July of 1958 at St. Mary of the Eternal Church with the reception at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel. Chuck's love always placed Theresa and his sons above all else. He was married to Terry for 65 years until she passed in 2023.
He is survived by his two sons, Chris Vincent and Charles Anthony, their wives Dawn and Lisa, his brother Thomas and sister-in-law Susan and his eight grandchildren, Christian, Matthew, Kate, Emma, Charlie, Presley, Reese and Madison.
Chuck worked for decades in the field of credit management for pharmaceutical companies, including Menley James/SmithKline & French (today's GlaxoSmithKline). He completed his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at LaSalle College while working full-time but still managed to have time for his wife and small children.
In the early 2000's his son Chris asked him to join his financial services consulting company as CFO. When Chris asked his father when he could start, Chuck said "Yesterday". Chuck and Chris worked together for over ten years, and Chuck restructured the administrative arm of the company.
Chuck was a devout Catholic his entire life. While still working and continuing after his retirement, he became involved in Catholic evangelization efforts. He was active in various ministries including Flame of Love, Carmelites, Divine Mercy, Legion of Mary and the Knights of Columbus. He was a huge advocate for living in the Divine Will of Jesus Christ. His strong lifelong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary led to his formation of Mary's Littlest Children, a movement that focused on achieving a close personal relationship with Jesus through Mary. He advocated this by scripting and hosting a weekly radio program on Radio Maria. He donated religious books and rosaries to those around him in an effort to bring people closer to God, and hosted a weekly prayer group every Friday until the year of his passing.
Chuck loved the outdoors. He enjoyed bicycling, hiking and camping with his sons and had formal training in outdoor survival, scuba diving, and karate. He particularly liked going to the Phillies games with his sons at Connie Mack Stadium which was walking distance from their home at the time.
He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and was always interested in hearing about their achievements, whether in sports, academics, or the activities of their daily lives.
Once a Marine, always a Marine. Chuck stayed active in the Marine Corp League and liked to collect items related to the Marine Corp. He was always quick to share colorful stories of his time in the service.
In his final years Leticia (Leti) Guadarama assisted the family with the professional care of Chuck, and Terry before him, both until the moment of their passing. The family is forever grateful for the peace of mind that Leti provided with her dedication, compassion, love, support, patience and kindness during the final years when they needed the most care. It will forever be etched in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10:30am until the start of a funeral mass at 12:00pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown PA 18940. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
