Linda Serafina Yglesias Stambolian, a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 at the age of 85.
Born in Jersey City, and raised in Bayonne, Linda was one of three children born to Concetta and Joseph Yglesias. Later, moving to Fair Lawn, where she graduated from Fair Lawn High School.
In 1962, Linda married the love of her life Abraham Stambolian. They moved to North Bergen and built a warm home where they raised their family. Their partnership was full of love, laughter, and dedication that lasted a lifetime. Linda was predeceased by Abraham and she carried his memory lovingly throughout her life.
Linda worked for Unilever Research in Edgewater for many years where she was known for her commitment, professionalism, and strong work ethic. She retired in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and care among her colleagues.
Four years ago, she moved to Alex Hearl in Pequannock where she embraced a new chapter of life. There, she spent her time meeting new friends, playing Bingo and becoming "the mayor of the breezeway," greeting everyone who passed by with a smile on her face and a kind word to share.
She is survived by her loving children: her son Adam Stambolian and his wife Gina and her daughter Abby Wells and her husband Steven, her sister Juanita Stehwein and her husband Bill. Her absolute greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to Sara and Grace Stambolian and to Ava, Carson and Lucas Wells. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces, Lenore Millan and Nicole Mecka; her nephew, Eric Stoveken; and several great-nieces and great nephews.
Linda will be remembered for the deep love she showed her family, her nurturing spirit, and the kindness she offered to all who knew her. She had a sharp wit, a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh that filled the room and lifted the hearts of those around her. She loved music and dancing and found comfort and joy in knitting gifts for those she loved. She also had a deep love for the beach and absolutely adored the sun. She was never happier than with the warmth of it on her face. Her presence and unwavering support will be missed beyond measure. Her legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, May 21 at Scanlan's Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:30 pm on Thursday at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes.
