Obituary of Linda Beth Stevenson
Linda Beth (Trotsky) Stevenson, devoted mother and grandmother, died Tuesday, August 26, 2025 after a brief aggressive illness. She was 78 and surrounded by family and loved ones until the end.
Born in
Denver, Colorado on December 31, 1946 to Martin and Gloria Trotsky, Linda was raised in Denver. Her brother, Jim, was born 22 months later and the Trotsky family was immersed in Denver life. The family joined Temple Emanuel, where Linda was consecrated and confirmed. Linda's childhood included: summers in Casper visiting her maternal grandparents, time swimming at Green Gables Country Club, skiing in the mountains, and family road trips to both coasts, including a memorable trip to Disneyland.
Linda attended Teller Elementary School, Gove Middle School and graduated from East High School in 1964. She followed in her parents footsteps, attending the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduating in 1968.
After college, Linda had many wonderful adventures, including living in Boston, attending the original Woodstock Festival in 1969, and traveling Europe. She eventually lived in London and told many stories of this fun time in her life.
She met Ken Stevenson, an Australian, when she was living and working in London, and they married soon after. The couple moved to Denver where they had one child, Michelle. They divorced when Michelle was five years old and Linda raised Michelle as a single mother, while always maintaining contact with her Australian relatives. Linda worked as both a travel agent and a full-time mom, cooking a homemade meal every night and making sacrifices to make sure her daughter had everything that she could ever need or want. Linda was Michelle's Girl Scout Brownie troop leader and later Odyssey of the Mind coach. In later years, she said that Michelle truly was her purpose and light after the divorce.
Linda ensured that she and Michelle spent weekly time with brother Jim's family and Michelle was able to grow up with three cousins who, to this day, feel like siblings. The family, along with Martin and Gloria, shared a condominium in Vail for many years and took memorable trips to Las Vegas, California, Hawaii and beyond, with memories and laughs to last a lifetime.
For the last 40 years, Linda has been adored by her life partner, Victor. The couple owned and worked side by side in several businesses over the years. Victor's family immediately accepted Linda as their own and over the years celebrated many wonderful occasions together. Linda and Victor enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and weekends in Blackhawk. Linda was an avid and loyal Broncos and Rockies fan, in spite of losing seasons, and she and Victor enjoyed many games together.
Female friendships were a mainstay of Linda's life. She maintained lifelong friendships from as early as elementary school and high school. Her friends would say she was loyal, thoughtful and fun. East High School had such a positive impact on her, and she went on to be a part of planning several East High class reunions and meeting up with East friends for lunch. She also played with the same Pan card group for the last 50+ years and played Mahjong weekly with another group of friends.
When Michelle met her future husband, Doug Striker, in 2005, Linda immediately embraced him. She loved the fact that she grew up with Doug's mom, Judy Joseph, at Temple Emanuel and remembered the Joseph family fondly from her own childhood. To Linda it felt truly bashert to merge these two families. Linda and Doug had a wonderful relationship and she loved him dearly.
Linda's favorite role later in life was being a devoted "Grammy" to her grandchildren, Elias and Isy. Linda was a mainstay in Elias and Isy's lives from day one. She loved taking care of them when they were younger and later Linda would attend Elias's lacrosse and ultimate frisbee games and Isy's drama performances, volleyball and soccer games. A year ago, Linda built a house next door to Doug and Michelle's to be closer to her family. This allowed for weekly dinners and daily connection. She was over the moon when Elias chose to attend East High School this year and was so proud he would be an East Angel like her. She was very much looking forward to Isy's upcoming Bat Mitzvah. She absolutely adored her grandkids.
Linda will be missed forever but never forgotten.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Doug) Striker; adoring grandchildren, Elias and Isy Striker; brother, Jim (Barbara) Trotsky; nieces and nephews, Kelli (Evan) Pfaff and their children; Kevin (Nikki) Trotsky; and Kari (Jue) Cao and their children; and life partner, Victor Javed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Gloria Trotsky.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, at Temple Emanuel; interment at Emanuel Cemetery. A livestream of the service available on Feldman Mortuary's YouTube channe l.
