Linda Sutton, born on May 23, 1947, in Johnstown, PA, passed away on September 3, 2025, while living in Greenville, Rhode Island. Linda was a courageous woman who dedicated her life to education, politics, and her family. She was a loyal friend, a talented photographer, and a dedicated history teacher, who brought the past to life for countless middle school students.

Linda, graduated from Conemaugh Valley High School near Johnstown, PA before furthering her education at Penn State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1968. She then began her career in advertising sales for Ziff Davis and Cycle Magazine, where she was the first US woman to sell automotive magazine advertisements. Later, she found her true calling as a middle school history teacher at the Los Angeles Unified School District. Linda's dedication to making history accessible for her students earned her the Middle Grade Teacher Certificate from the LAUSD. Always an active participant in Democratic Party politics, Linda served as Lead Media Advance for the Jimmy Carter 1976 Presidential Campaign and was a recognized leader in the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. She was also a skilled photographer, specializing in capturing the charisma of politicians and the elusive beauty of jellyfish. Linda also had a passion for cooking, especially her soups, which were raved about by anyone who had the opportunity to have a bowl.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Daniel Sutton; daughters, Catherine Sutton of Brattleboro, VT, Suzanne Sutton of Providence, RI; Grandsons Seamus and Nikko Danielian of Providence, RI. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Aumack.

Her family would like to extend their thanks to their wonderful daughters, who have smoothed the path through the sorrow. A special thanks to the Danielian clan for its thoughtfulness and presence, and to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (Fred Hutch) for their care.

Services for Linda are under the care of Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island.
