A Bardstown resident, Mrs. Linda Irene Whitney Welch, age 77, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at her residence. She was born January 27, 1948 in Boston to the late Virgil Lee and Addie Hall Whitney. Linda was a retired secretary for the Nelson County Board of Education where she worked for 49 years and loved every day of it. She was a volunteer and treasurer for Flaget Hospital Gift Shop and was a lifelong member of Cox's Creek Baptist Church. Her many joys included traveling, spending time with her family during the holidays, shopping and her love of cats, but her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda's legacy of love, service and unwavering dedication will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl "Bill" Welch, her son, Tandy Lee Welch, and 2 brothers, Rodney and JD Whitney. She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Troy) Runner of Bloomfield, Jessie (Bryan) Rogers of Bardstown, her sister, Louise Whitney Young of Cox's Creek, her brother, Carl Ray Whitney of Campbellsville, 5 grandchildren, Cass (Savannah) Stanley, Justin (Faith) Hall, Elle Runner, Dane Runner, Josie Rogers, 3 great grandchildren, Vivian Marie, Roxanne Irene and Billie Lane Stanley, and her uncle, JC Hall of Shepherdsville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Cox's Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Jim Bratcher will officiate. Interment will be in St. Gregory Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 pm. Additional visitation will be at Cox's Creek Baptist Church Wednesday from 11:00 am until time of the funeral service. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
