Linda Louise Wyland, 59, joined with God on Friday, December 6, 2024, at her home in McCormick, S.C., surrounded by her loved ones, after courageously fighting against adenocarcinoma.
Linda was born on September 19, 1965, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to Kenneth Charles Wyland and the late Kathleen Rosemary Raleigh.
After leaving Tomahawk, she went on to become a dental assistant and later received a degree as a dental hygienist. It was a 35-year adventure that she genuinely loved. She continued working until she retired from Walsh Dental in McCormick in 2021.
Linda married James "Jimmy" Schumpert on September 27, 2004. In their 20 years of marriage, Linda cherished any time spent with her family, cherishing particularly their time spent fresh or salt-water fishing on the boat or hunting shark teeth on their beach trips. Linda was passionate about cooking and gardening, which she loved sharing with her family. She looked forward to the daily walk around town with her 110-pound lapdog, Cairo. And even though she had 10 dogs, her daughter still convinced her to go out and volunteer with the humane society. Linda was also an avid wildlife enthusiast and had a special affinity for bluebirds. She loved feeding any birds and deer that visited her yard. Her collection of over 200 flamingos reflected her love and admiration for these beautiful creatures.
Linda said she especially enjoyed every single moment that she got to spend in Wisconsin with her dad. She enjoyed being there visiting her father, watching the bears and the wildlife, working with him in the yard, and spending time with family up there. Her time in Wisconsin was very precious to her because she lives so far away.
Surviving in addition to her husband Jimmy and her father are her children: Stephen Nimmons of Fayetteville NC, Hannah Canejo (Michael) of Aiken, Cody Schumpert (Brenda Cabello) of McCormick, and Tabatha Singletary (William) of Plum Branch. In addition, her grandchildren Adarius, Karina, Elijah, Luna, and Ava survive her; also survived by a stepsister Tara Campbell (Kerry) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and her beloved companion Cairo, and a host of other family and friends. She is presumably survived by her 5 ft., 300-pound concrete flamingo that flew away several years back.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother and her brother, James Wyland, both of whom she loved very dearly.
The family will receive friends at the home from 12-2 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Linda would like to encourage everyone to please consider routine cancer screenings starting at an earlier age.
