Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Oct. 5, 2024.
Linwood Stewart "Stu" Allen, Jr., a cherished family patriarch and decorated war hero, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of 101, in Cherry Hill, NJ. Born on March 25, 1923, in Jefferson, NJ, Stu's life was a testament to the values of dedication, love, and service.
Stu, known affectionately as "Pop" by his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a true family man whose world revolved around his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Helen Allen and Florence Allen, and is survived by his devoted children, Ruth Allen and Steve Allen (Donna). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Michael Anselmo, Nick Anselmo (Stephanie), Kyle Allen (Jamie), Cory Allen, and his great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Gianna, Ryan, Jake, Ashley, Lily, Travis, and Cody, who will forever cherish their memories with him.
A proud veteran, Stu served with honor in the US Marines during World War II and was recognized as the oldest living WWII Veteran in South Jersey. His commitment to his fellow Marines extended well into his later years as a dedicated member of the Marine Corps League Semper of Mantua and the Marine Air Group 61. Stu's service to his country was matched by his dedication to his community, particularly through his active involvement with the Toys for Tots program, where he brought joy to countless children during the holiday season.
Stu's passion for family life was evident in every aspect of his life. As his children grew, he became heavily involved in the Hamilton West Band Parents and engaged in all their events, including the Boy Scouts. No event was too small or too big for Stu to lend his support, and his presence was a constant source of encouragement and pride for his family.
A die-hard Philadelphia Phillies fan, Stu's enthusiasm for his team was as steadfast as his love for his family. His friendly and selfless nature made him a beloved figure not only at home but also in the wider community. Stu's ability to connect with people, his warm smile, and his genuine concern for others made him a friend to many.
