Lisa Ann Pine Brumback, 72, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2025, near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, while celebrating with her extended family on vacation.
Family and friends will celebrate Lisa's impactful life on Monday, July 14, 2025, with a visitation from 3:30-6:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny, Iowa. The service will be livestreamed at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/5248965.
For all those that knew Lisa, she loved in a big way and her heart failed to keep pace with the love she exuded. Lisa was born on November 14,1952, to Charles A. Pine, Jr. and Phyllis O. Pine. She was raised by Phyllis and B.E. Lamb and enjoyed the company of her sisters Lexy and Lindy, who were her best friends. As a child, Lisa was a talented pianist, self-taught seamstress, and decorated platform diver. She grew up in eastern Pennsylvania where she graduated from William Allen High School and attended Albright College, majoring in statistics.
Having met in eighth grade, Lisa married Thomas "Tom" Benton Brumback, Jr. on June 15, 1974. Everyone who knew them admired their strong partnership and commitment to each other. Tom and Lisa recently celebrated the remarkable milestone of 50 years of marriage. They had three children; Kellan, Lindsey, and Trey, who each adored her and shared a unique relationship with her.
In their early days, Lisa was a successful banker, working tirelessly to support Tom as he pursued higher education. Lisa devoted herself to providing her children with a joyful and nurturing childhood before returning to work, where she taught and tutored math at Des Moines Area Community College for more than 20 years. Lisa's legacy will live on through the countless young lives she touched; cherished by teachers, staff, and especially the students she wholeheartedly supported in and outside of academics. Lisa loved people! She was considered a second mother to so many, especially the neighborhood gang and was often seen making friends with complete strangers. She opened her home and her arms to anyone in need of a home-cooked meal, a compassionate conversation, or a lazy stroll through her meticulous garden.
Lisa loved attending concerts, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was a seasoned world traveler, an avid reader, a lover of fine arts and festivals and competitive Jeopardy player. In recent years she loved watching her grandchildren compete in sports, taking them to bookstores, and most recently spoiling them with a trip to Disney World. She enjoyed her book and card clubs with her dear friends. Lisa found joy in simple and everyday things like grocery shopping, weeding, making snack trays, prepping the camper, and preparing hunter's breakfast spread. However, more than anything, Lisa loved spending time with her family and going above and beyond for them regularly. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that her love and light will remain with us always.
Lisa is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Thomas Benton Brumback Jr.; her children, Kellan (Joseph) Longenecker, Lindsey (Chris) Alley and Thomas (Brittany) Brumback, III; her grandchildren, John Thomas (JT), Lucy, Jack Longenecker; Reed and Drew Alley, and Thomas Benton Brumback IV (Lane); her siblings, Lindy Lamb and Lexy (Russ) Bardolf; and many more extended family and friends who dearly loved her.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Pine Jr., B.E. Lamb, and Phyllis O. Pine Lamb; her in-laws, Thomas Benton Brumback Sr. and Margaret Mehales Brumback; her brothers-in-law Rick Howard and George (Buddy) Schneider; nephew Kyle Howard; and sister-in-law Diana McRoberts.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, we kindly ask that memorial contributions be made to the charitable organizations she deeply supported.

Dear Tom and family,

I was so incredibly saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Lisa. I still vividly remember meeting her when you first started at Pioneer, about 30 years ago. Even after all this time, her happiness, friendliness, and wonderful smile left such a strong impression on me. It's rare for me to recall details from so long ago with such clarity, but Lisa truly made a lasting impact on me.

I can only imagine how incredibly difficult this must be for all of you. Please know that I'm thinking of you and your family, and I'm so very sorry for your profound loss. May God bless each of you during this incredibly tough times.

Sincerely, Mike Coleman
