Lisa Michele Swindall Dover, age 60, of Cherryville, passed away December 30, 2025, at Wendover Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 3, 1965, in Wise County, Virginia, to the late John Henry Swindall and the late Rose Mary Sturgill Swindall Navey.
Lisa received her nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing and worked for many years in healthcare. She also worked as a teacher at Cherryville High School, where she taught in Health Occupations. Lisa was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and going to the pool. Lisa also loved to travel, especially to the beach, and took many trips with her husband, Keith.
Lisa fought a long, brave battle for six years – one marked by strength, endurance, and quiet courage. Even in the hardest moments, she showed a depth of resilience that inspired everyone who loved her. She carried pain with grace, faced fear with determination, and never stopped being herself. Her journey was not easy, but it was meaningful. She taught us about perseverance, love, and what it truly means to be strong when the road feels impossibly heavy. Though her body grew tired, her spirit never did. She is now at peace, free from suffering, wrapped in rest and light. Her love remains with us – in our memories, our hearts, and the bond that can never be broken. Forever loved. Forever missed.
In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her daughter, Cortney Elizabeth Dover.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, John “Keith” Dover; son, Greyson John Dover; sisters, Joanna Greene (John), and Tonya Hoxsie (Bob); sister-in-law, Susan Reynolds (Bobby Dale); nieces and nephews, Drew Reynolds, Ashlyn Rose Presson, Shawn Voigt, and Shannon Voigt Rocha; and many close special friends.
Services will be private.
