Lisa Ferris Obituary

On October 23, 2022, Lisa Ann Ferris died of a heart attack at her home in Bloomfield Hills. She was 60 years of age.
Lisa joyfully embraced every moment of a purposeful life. With her passing, the world has lost a bright light, a hearty laugh, and a dear friend to the countless people who cherished her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Weissman, and their two daughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Weissman, ages 18 and 12. She is also survived by her Aunt and Uncle, Jane and Stephen Billecke; cousins Stephanie, John, and their son Owen; cousins Scott, Chris, and their children Teresa, Alex, and Claire; and sister-in-law and husband Lael and Martin Cassidy and children Hannah and Susannah Kimble. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Nancy Ferris.
Lisa was born in Southgate, Michigan, in June of 1962 and grew up in West Bloomfield. She received a scholarship to attend Cranbrook / Kingswood Upper School, a life-changing experience that broadened her mind and widened her world. She went on to earn a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1984.
For the last 22 years, Lisa was a vice president and senior equity research analyst at Loomis Sayles. Prior to that, she served as Director of Transactional Services at Price Waterhouse Coopers and a commercial lender at National Bank of Detroit now Chase. In all of her work, Lisa balanced an analytical mind with a genuine appreciation for her co-workers and colleagues throughout the banking industry.
Lisa was loved dearly by many for her open and generous nature. She was an avid cheerleader for her daughters, who were involved in swimming, diving, and many other athletic activities. She never missed her a meet and was always first to volunteer to help. She was a swim official, a board member of both the Birmingham Blue Dolphins and Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, and a new booster of Albion Britons Swim/Dive Team. A familiar face around Michigan pools, Lisa eagerly recruited and welcomed new families to her clubs, celebrating not only their athletic achievements, but also their comradery.
Her enthusiasm was as infectious as her laugh and good spirits. She touched many lives, leaving them changed for the better. She will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Woodward Ave., Royal Oak (between 13 Mile and 14 Mile) on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 2-8 p.m.
