Lisa earned her master's in education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Arts from Valparaiso University.
She worked in student affairs at several universities. She was the director of Greek Life at Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., for the past four years. In her position, she advised Panhellenic Association, Interfraternity Council, Order of Omega and Rho Lambda. She was also a freshman advisor and taught a freshman skills class and a leadership class for Greek Presidents.
Prior to her work at Franklin College she was a residential learning coordinator and was involved with Greek Life at Valparaiso University. While at Valparaiso, she was the advisor for Hellenic Council, Order of Omega, and the Greek Judicial Board. She supervised RA Staffs, advised student House Council and was responsible for several residence halls.
At both Franklin and Valparaiso she created and implemented new awards and recognition programs in regards to Greek Life and student leadership. She had also worked as associate and acting director of admissions at Alma College in Alma. Lisa had also worked as an admission counselor at Concordia College in Minnesota.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and had been an academic advisor to sororities at Valparaiso. Lisa received the President's Award for administrative excellence at Alma College, was the case study competition winner for Graduate Student and Faculty Forum in South Carolina and was a member of the Association of Fraternity Advisors from 2000 to 2005.
Lisa is survived by her parents of Arcadia; and sister, Laura Gatz of Dallas.
Funeral services and a Celebration of Life worship service will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
