Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Panama City on Oct. 24, 2024.
Lisa Rena Kent, age 55, a resident of
Panama City, Florida, was received into the arms of her
loving Father on October 9, 2024.
Lisa was born in Panama City on September 26, 1969 to Wilmer Gene and Marsha Rachel
Worley. She spent her childhood bringing life to everyone and everything around her. From the
garden she tended with her parents and 3 sisters, Rita, Linda, and Lori, to the music she
created with her beautiful voice and as a part of the band. Lisa lived a life that impacted
everyone she came into contact with. It was a life that cannot be reduced to generic job titles
and locations. Instead, Lisa's life is marked by the countless ministries she lived out and
devoted herself to with steadfast faith.
The most important of these ministries to Lisa was her role as wife to her soulmate, Curtis Kent.
The two met in December 1988 when Curtis was playing a role in a Christmas play. Thinking he
was the cutest guy she'd ever seen, Lisa sent her friend to relay the message, and Curtis asked
her on a date. They were married July 8, 1989. Lisa's love for her husband was not one of
obligation; it was a true picture of the gift that God had given them in one another. Their deep
love provided them each with genuine friendship, joy, and comfort. They were partners in all
things, and they enjoyed traveling to places both new and old, ministering to others, watching
movies, and living their lives together with familiarity and true understanding of the other.
Curtis and Lisa started a new journey together as parents with the birth of their son Tyler
Maxwell Kent in August of 1992. Their family was completed in October of 1997 when they
brought their son Casey Ryan Kent into the world. Lisa loved being a mom, and she handled
her role as the only woman in a house full of men with grace. Lisa delighted in her sons, and
pushed them with a caring hand to pursue their dreams with passion, wisdom, love, and
understanding. Echoes of her love will be felt in every trip to Disney World, every beautiful
mountain view, every bowl of her award-winning chili, and every lyric in "You Are My Sunshine."
In January of 2020, Lisa extended this genuine love and guidance to her daughter-in-law,
Amber Johnson Kent, and welcomed her into the family as one of her own. In March of 2022,
Lisa was gifted a new ministry and title–Mimi. Every Thursday Lisa enjoyed "Mimi dates" with
her granddaughter, Lenya Reign Kent, where they watched movies, played at the park, and
snuck fudge-pops from Gippy's stash.
Pastor Lisa was a member of New Church Assemblies of God, where she served countless
hours for many decades alongside her husband, Pastor Curtis. Lisa was a tenacious prayer
warrior for any who needed it. She helped others worship God with the beautiful, anointed music
she made. She served in the children's and women's ministries with patience and care.
She loved the Lord in a way that could not and would not be kept to herself. It transcended
boundaries and borders, and she led others to Christ wherever she went–from the beaches of
Florida, to the towns of Africa.
Lisa is survived by her husband Curtis; sons Tyler and Casey (Amber); and granddaughter
Lenya; her father, Wilmer Gene Worley, and mother Marsha Rachel Worley; her sisters, Rita L.
Kelly (David), Linda R. Taylor (Tony), and Lori L. Oberley (Dustin); and numerous nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Lisa is also survived by the legacy she created as a mighty woman of God. A legacy of
gentleness and of grace. A legacy of fierceness and of truth. A legacy of beautiful music and
comforting hugs. Her beautiful nature pulled countless people into her circle, and she loved
them as her own. Lisa will live on for generations and across oceans in the memories and
stories told by those who were lucky enough to know and be loved by her.
