In Loving Memory of Lisa Last
January 11, 1972 – November 30, 2024
Lisa Last passed away on November 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, curiosity, and fierce loyalty. Though she quietly endured chronic physical illness, her spirit and intellect were anything but quiet. Lisa approached life with boundless enthusiasm, always seeking to learn and share her knowledge with those around her.
Born on January 11, 1972, to the late Donna Leissner (née Patten) and Dennis Last, Lisa's arrival was a moment of joy that illuminated the lives of her family. Her grandmother, Ruth, was so enamored with her that she had Lisa's photo proudly displayed on every check she wrote-a testament to the pride and love Lisa inspired.
As a child, Lisa was at times a spirited tomboy who often loved climbing trees and embracing adventure. Life's challenges shaped her into a scrappy and independent young woman, especially after her parents' divorce. She navigated the complexities of an expanded family with strength and resilience.
Lisa's love for music was evident early on. She learned to play five instruments by ear and had a penchant for listening to rock and metal. Her passion for music mirrored her zest for life-vibrant and unapologetic. Throughout her life, even into her final days, she delighted in sharing her love for Taylor Swift, introducing others to her cherished Journey and Def Leppard playlists, and often singing her favorite songs during phone calls.
She was also enthusiastic in her fashion in school, often sporting on-trend makeup and hair styled with copious amounts of Aqua Net.
Motherhood transformed Lisa's life. As a young mother to her daughter Kirstin, she faced challenges and discouragements, but persevered with determination.
Lisa's professional journey led her to a distinguished career in the legal field in part to her father's occupation involved in the criminal justice. She served for over a decade at the Circuit Court for Prince George's County, Maryland, where her dedication and expertise earned her the respect of judges, lawyers, and colleagues. Her career culminated at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, where she excelled as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Senior Judges.
Known for her intellectual curiosity, Lisa often lost herself in deep dives of internet research, always seeking to refine her skills and share her knowledge with others. She was a natural mentor and supporter, and was fiercely loyal to those she cared about. Her personality was magnetic-bubbly, opinionated, and unapologetically authentic. Lisa's presence filled any room she entered, and her absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Lisa's love for animals was also awell-known, and she was a devoted Cat Person. In her memory, those wishing to honor her are encouraged to donate to their local animal shelter, continuing her legacy of compassion and care.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, Kirstin Last; her father, Dennis Last, Sr.; her stepfather, David Leissner; her sister, Heather Scher (Last); her brother, Dennis Last, II; and her nieces. She also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
A celebration of Lisa's life was held on December 4th at the Stained Glass Pub in Elkridge, Maryland, followed by a memorial service at Eline Funeral Home in Reisterstown, Maryland.
Lisa will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
