Lisa Melo of
Middletown, NJ, passed away at home on April 1st, 2025, at the age of 63.
Born on December 28, 1961, Lisa grew up in Clifton, NJ, alongside her three brothers and sister. She later worked at Conrac/LSI, where she met the love of her life, Fred Melo, who stole her heart. They married in 1990 and built a beautiful life together in
Middletown, NJ, where they raised their daughter.
God broke the mold of quiet, passive, meek girls when He sent Lisa to us.
If you ever met Lisa, you knew it - immediately. She was a force of nature, with an unfiltered wit and a heart just as big as her opinions. Never one to keep her thoughts to herself, Lisa had the remarkable gift of saying exactly what was on her mind - and doing it in a way that made you laugh.
Her laughter - that unmistakable, joyful cackle - could light up any room and was absolutely contagious. Whether sharing stories, catching up with friends, or holding court at family gatherings, Lisa filled every moment with humor, warmth, and life. Her greatest joy in life came from the people she loved. Her bond with her siblings remained strong throughout the years, and they gathered their own families frequently for holidays, birthdays, and every celebration in between. One of her most beloved traditions was an annual girls' weekend to the Jersey Shore with her closest friends, a time filled with trips to the beach, storytelling, and the kind of laughter that only lifelong friendships can bring.
She loved a good time, and even more, she loved her family. Fred and Melissa were the center of her world. She beamed with pride at every one of her daughter's accomplishments, especially as Melissa pursued her path as a PA. Lisa never missed an opportunity to share just how proud she was - and probably told anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Melissa Melo, and her husband, Bill Hassenkamp, whom Lisa was proud to call her son-in-law. She is also survived by her 3 siblings, Joanne (and her husband Phil Milot); Kevin (and his wife Enilsa); John (and his wife Kandy); 7 nieces and nephews, as well as their spouses and children. Lisa's spirit and love extended far and wide, touching the lives of numerous coworkers, neighbors and lifelong friends. Lisa is now reunited with her parents, Joseph and Elaine Svec, her younger brother Joseph Svec, and her mother-in-law Carmen Melo. She quickly reunited with her beloved husband of 34 years, Fernando Melo, who passed away just 2 weeks after her.
A celebration of Lisa's life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Salt Creek Grille in Rumson, NJ, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to:
