Lisa Jane Pagel (Bartel), 65, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024 with family by her side. She was born on July 19, 1959 in Neenah, WI, the daughter of Gordon and Angeline Bartel. Lisa was a 1977 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School. She then attended Fox Valley Technical College and received her Associates Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Cookery. She was united in marriage to Daniel Pagel on September 8, 1979 at Martin Luther Church in Neenah. After working as a cook for a few years, she worked at Guardian Insurance Company as a medical claim approver for 26 years. She finished her full-time career at Cypress Benefit Administrators. After living in Neenah with her husband and two children for 40 years, Lisa and Dan semi-retired and moved to their cabin in Silver Cliff, WI. She worked part time in Silver Cliff at Jungle Jim’s Pub & Grub and the YMCA Camp doing what she loved – cooking and baking.
Lisa loved spending time with her large family (especially playing a good game of cards) and was a wonderful aunt/great-aunt who loved to spoil all of the kids in her life. She was blessed with many friends who enjoyed doing some of her favorite things. She spent a lot of time quilting and sewing, kayaking and boating, golfing, taking her dog Riva on long walks, feeding the birds, and volunteering. Lisa was a fun-loving, big-hearted person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She had an incredibly strong faith in our Lord and she knew He was by her side always, through the highs and lows of life.
Lisa is survived by her husband: Dan; children: Dustin and Jordan; mother: Angeline Bartel; siblings: Lyn (Randy) Strohmeyer, Lee (Karla) Bartel, Laureen (Bob) Kolosky, and Lona (Kevin) Bayer; father-in-law: Ken Pagel; brothers-in-law: Tom (Debbie) Pagel and Doug (Karen Lytie) Pagel; sister-in-law: Laurie Pagel; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father: Gordon Bartel; mother-in-law: Mary Pagel; step-father: Ken Robinson; brother-in-law: Mike Pagel.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to all of the staff who cared for Lisa through her journey these past 16 months. A special thank you to Ella and Taylor. Thank you also to the staff at Bethel Home and Compassus who cared for Lisa in her final days. The Pagel family will never be able to express enough thanks to everyone who supported and prayed for them in this journey. Especially all involved in the benefit hosted in Silver Cliff this past summer and all other support/contributions.
A Christian funeral service will be held at St John Lutheran Church (17963 WI-32 Townsend WI) on Saturday, November 30 at 11am, with visitation from 9-11am and a luncheon to follow. A celebration of life will be held at Old 41 Saloon (293 S Green Bay Rd Neenah WI) on December 8 from 1-5pm.
