Lizzie Cooper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peoples Funeral Home, Inc. - Jackson on Mar. 3, 2024.
Born June 3rd, 1937 in Jackson, MS to Mr. & Mrs. Willie Craft, Ms. Lizzie eventually married Mr. Marvin Cooper, Sr. It is at this point that Mrs. Lizzie began her career as an entrepreneur in the Lynch Street Business District, helping to successfully run The Red Carpet Night Club, The Shadow Lane Restaurant, The Little Brown Jug Liquor Store, The Golden Bird Restaurant, Mr. C's Fashions, and The Stop and Sak Convenience Stores 1 & 2.
However, in 1990, Mrs. Lizzie turned her life over to Christ and dedicated her altruistic skills to the community of Jackson, MS and the surrounding areas, by creating The AA Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation Center.
With the help of organizations such as StewpotCommunity Services, The East & West Jackson District (District 4) United Methodist Church - The MS Conference, Pratt Memorial United Methodist Church, The City of Jackson's Weed & Seed Program, Jackson State University, Wingard House, Gateway Rescue Mission, The MS Food Network, and Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Ms. Lizzie successfully operated her food ministry, AIDS program, afterschool children's program, and chemical dependency rehabilitation services program.
Yes, Mrs. Lizzie was a true example of 'The Great Commission' and John 21: 15-17. whereby Jesus told his disciples to go forth, witness, love and create disciples.

Mrs. Lizzie was successful in these endeavors because she often used her life as an example for others to see how a person could come from humble beginnings, live a worldly life, and then turn their life over to God and help others.
