Lloyd Dewayne Bowden, 76, of Meridian, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Lloyd was born to Preston James and Nannie Mae (McCann) Bowden on December 20, 1947, at their home on Crescent Lake Road in Meridian. He will be remembered as being a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family. His sons recall how he was always involved in their baseball games when they were growing up. Lloyd was known to also be a big jokester. He was a devoted member to his church, who loved his Lord, and never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lloyd is survived by his sons, Stephen Bowden (KaSandra), Michael Bowden (Sara), Preston Bowden, and Stormy Bowden (Jonaca); his daughters, Summer Parker (Nick) and Marycatherine Duke; his sister, Judy Temple (Buddy); along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston James and Nannie Mae Bowden; and his sister, Linda Faye Bowden Watson.
Visitation for Lloyd will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024. The Bowden Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, beginning at 10 am at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, located at 109 Crescent Lake Road, Meridian, with Rev. Justin Fortenberry officiating the service. Burial will take place at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 5513 Zero Road, Meridian.
Serving as pallbearers for Lloyd’s service will be Stephen Bowden, Preston Bowden, Stormy Bowden, Chris Temple, Eric Pickard, and Barry McKissack.
