Lloyd Holt Cheek, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on February 11, 1933 in Warren County to the late William Cheek and Mattie Best Cheek. Holt was the husband of 21 years to Maxine Whitesell Cheek of the home.
He was a retired machinist from Fairy Stone Fabrics. Holt was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church, he enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, traveling, building bird houses but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Holt is survived by his loving wife Maxine Cheek; step sons, Wayne Pruitt and Bradley Pruitt; numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Apple Cheek who passed away in 2002; his sisters, Helen Cheek Fuller and Ethel Cheek Reece and his brothers, Bill Allen Cheek, Herbert Cheek and Macon Cheek.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all their family members, the neighbors, friends and their church family for all the support and loving care that was shown to Holt and to Maxine during Holt’s illness.
The funeral service to celebrate Holt’s life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Carol Carkin. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 2:45pm Saturday prior to the service and other times at the residence.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, October 14, 2024 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Allen Myers.
