Lloyd Ellsworth Goodno, age 81 of Ravenna, went to be with God on December 25, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side. Lloyd was born on April 29, 1942, in Detroit to Lloyd & Lucille (Engle) Goodno. Lloyd was an Oklahoma boy at heart. You could catch him saying "southernisms" such as 'finer than frog hair' or 'a thing of beauty is a joy forever' and 'better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.' He grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma, and graduated from Guymon High School in 1960. He attended the University of Oklahoma before moving to Michigan and joining the United States Air Force. Lloyd was stationed at Kincheloe Air Force base in the U.P. where he met and married the love of his life, Brenda Lee Jackson in 1964. In 1966, Lloyd and Brenda moved from the U.P. to Ravenna, where they have spent the past 57 years raising their precious family. It was a joy for him to be part of our close-knit community, including proud member of St. Catherine's Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and a founding member of St. Catherine's Men's Club. Lloyd worked for CWC Textron for 41 years, retiring in 2007. Family was his main focus. You could always count on at least one spectator in the stands for every sporting event or extracurricular activity near or far for his children, and later in life, for his grandchildren. He loved and supported his family so very well. He was always whistling a little diddy, giving words of encouragement or jokes to brighten anyone's day. Other interests were spending time on the family boat, golfing and watching football, especially for his alma mater OU BOOMER SOONER!
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Brenda; dear son, Matthew (Anissa) Goodno; cherished daughters, Misty (John) Conran, Meranda (Aaron) Lamoreaux, and Louann (Justin) Visconti. Lloyd's pride and joy, his grandchildren are Sky Jo, Kendalle, Savvy, Lexie, Izzy, Maddie, Jack, Mason, Cru and Tenley. Lloyd is also survived by his siblings with whom he shared a very special bond, brother, Tom Goodno; sister, Sandy Rollenhagen; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lucille Goodno; brother-in-law, Seth Rollenhagen; and sister-in-law, Karen Goodno.
Lloyd's life will be celebrated with a visitation on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 PM with the praying of the rosary starting at 7:30 PM at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, MI 49451. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 12236 Heights Ravenna Rd., Ravenna, MI 49451 with visitation from 10-11:00 AM. Military honors will be performed by the Ravenna American Legion Post 297 Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions in Lloyd's memory may be directed to the St. Catherine's Men's Club or Harbor Hospice. Brenda, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. 57 years is quite an accomplishment and I always felt that you had a very loving marriage. I will always remember how special you were to my mom. I still remember her sewing clothes for your little ones. She enjoyed you and your family so much. I can't be with you because of a lousy cold that I have, but I will be with you tomorrow in spirit. Love and prayers to you and your family. Kathy (Arends) Larkin
