Lloyd Ray Green, 71, of Sylva, passed away Wednesday, June 4,2025. He was born in Gaston County, NC, and moved to Sylva at the age of 3. He was the son of Henry Floyd Green and Eva Mae Alexander Green.
Lloyd retired from the North Carolina Forest Service as a County Ranger here in Jackson County. H was also a member of Savannah Fire Department for 44 years where he served as chairman of the board and assistant chief. Lloyd enjoyed running the tractor and really lived for hunting with his brother and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Eva Green and brother Fred Allen Green.
He is survived by his brother Floyd Lee Green (Andi), Nephews Brandon Floyd Green (Tiffany), Aaron David Green, great nephew Logan Everett Green, great nieces Makayla Brooke Green and Kasyn Everly Green, all of Sylva. Also, his partner Karen Johnson and beloved cat, Oreo.
Pallbearers will be members of the Savannah Fire Department. The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for all their care and love (special thanks to Makinley). In lieu of flowers make donations to the Savannah Fire Department.
Services for Lloyd will be held on Monday June 9, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with a chapel service starting at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Greens Creek Cemetery immediately following the service at the funeral home.
