Surrounded by his three loving daughters, Lloyd Eugene Muterspaugh, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Epworth Villa in
Oklahoma City, OK. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and dedication that will be cherished by those who knew him.
Lloyd was born to William and Netia Muterspaugh on March 11, 1937, as the youngest of nine children. Raised in a home filled with love and strong values, he graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in May 1955. He began his higher education at Indiana Central University but took a break after his first year to serve his country. From 1956 to 1958, Lloyd honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Clerk Typist in France. Upon completing his service, he returned to Indiana Central University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
Lloyd was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church, where he found immense joy singing tenor in the choir. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda Wyatt. They married on August 21, 1960, and together built a beautiful life rooted in faith and service. Lloyd initially worked for the U.S. Postal Service before he and Linda felt called to mission work. In 1966, they moved to Española, NM, to serve as Home Missionaries at McCurdy School. There, Lloyd taught business and sociology classes and later worked in the school's business office, dedicating himself to education and community service.
From 1987 to 2003, Lloyd worked at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK, while Linda served as the Director of Children's Ministries and later as a church administrator at First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville. Their passion for ministry and service continued throughout their lives. In 2007, Lloyd and Linda relocated to Moore, OK, before settling at Epworth Living Center in 2013.
Lloyd had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending his falls deer hunting in both New Mexico and Oklahoma. Summers were filled with fishing along the rivers of New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming, often catching his limit multiple times a day and sharing his love for the sport with his family. Lloyd and Linda also shared a passion for travel, spending summers camping across the United States with their daughters. Their adventures took them to historic battlefields, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and even the cheese factories of Wisconsin. A highlight of these journeys was always finding the perfect route to Indiana each summer as they worked on their master's degrees at Indiana Central University.
In their retirement years, Lloyd and Linda embarked on new adventures, traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe, while also making frequent visits to Wyoming and Indiana to spend time with family. Lloyd was a devoted grandfather who adored his nine grandchildren, investing in each of their lives and leaving them with cherished memories of his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda, his son-in-law, Luke Stockstill, as well as his three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his three daughters: Maria Stockstill of Moore, OK; Anne (Paul) Bleicher of Ten Sleep, WY; and Carol (Jesse) Campbell of
Oklahoma City, OK. He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren: Jared (Ayana) Stockstill, Brenden Stockstill, Katherine Stockstill, Emily Bleicher, Elizabeth (Gabe) Gould, Jordan (Hannah) Jack, Jonathan Jack, Kayleigh Jack, and Joshua Jack, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Brill Chapel, Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Pennsylvania,
Oklahoma City, OK. The service will be live streamed on Facebook, and a recording will be available afterward for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of the ministries that Lloyd supported throughout his life, ensuring that his legacy of faith and service continues for generations to come.
