Lloyd Edward Pettit

Lloyd Edward Pettit, 86, Crawfordsville, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2025. He was born on April 9, 1939 in rising sun, IN to James Clifford and Freda M. (Witham) Pettit. He married Joyce E. Vowels on July 22, 1959.

He served in the United States Navy as a machinist in San Diego, CA from 1958 to 1962. He returned to Indiana to work at Hoosier Crown Corporation while taking classes at Purdue University. He then went to work for Sommer MetalCraft Corporation as an engineer. He retired from there in 2005 as plant manager after 34 years. He was owner of a video business and part owner of Athens Diversified Industries. He was a long-time member and past president of Christ Lutheran Church. He had been a member of Montgomery County Welfare Think Tank, past president and secretary of Crawfordsville Rotary Club. He especially enjoyed his family, travelling, his back porch, and scenic backyard field. He also enjoyed photography, taking pictures of birds, wildlife and the green flash on the beach as well as his winter time in Florida.

He is survived by his daughter Linda (Greg) Rice of Crawfordsville, grandson, Cory Rice and great grandson Jaxon Rice, brothers Ronnie and Danny Pettit of Lawrenceburg, IN and Frank Rose of Crawfordsville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, son, David Pettit, grandson, Joshua Rice, brother, Clifford Pettit, sisters, Virginia Pettit Williams and Lillian Pettit Schuck.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October, 13, 2025 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Jeff Stedge officiating. A brief visitation will begin at 1:30. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South with military rites by the American Legion Post #72 and the United States Navy.
