Lloyd H. Runge, 86, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away at the Westwing Place Nursing Home on Sunday, October 16, 2011. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with inurnment in Clinton Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Legion Post #238 and Patriot Guard Riders. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. He is survived by 4 children, Dennis (Marcia) Runge of Franklin, IN, David (Dee) Runge, Kristie (Larry) Walther, and Dana (Christie) Runge, all of DeWitt, IA; Siblings Dorothy "Sis" Farber of Florida, and Bob Runge of California; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Elma, wife Doris Jean in 2000, and siblings Roland and Bud Runge. Lloyd "Buzz" Henry Runge was born June 26, 1925 to Julius and Elma (Hesse) Runge in DeWitt, Iowa. He served in World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. as a 2nd Lt. for 8 years of service. Lloyd married Doris Jean (Gisel) Runge on May 30, 1946 in Waterloo, IA. Throughout his life Lloyd worked as a butcher, bookkeeper, and in automotive sales. He worked for Ed Maroon Ford in DeWitt, Bowman Products in Cleveland, OH, and Abrahams Auto Parts in Davenport. He also owned and operated Runge's Standard Station. Lloyd was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eldridge, the American Legion in DeWitt, and was a little league baseball coach. He had the honor of attending the Honor Flight in November, 2009 to Washington DC. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing the bass fiddle and singing in a dance band with his brother Bud, and fixing anything. He was an all around Mr. Fix It and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
