Lloyd David Schneider, 72, of Fair Haven, VT, passed away on February 20, 2025, at University of Vermont Medical Center of a heart attack. He was born on March 26, 1952, in the Bronx, NYC, the son of Samuel and Blanche Schneider.
Lloyd had a larger-than-life personality-hilarious, endlessly charismatic, and never afraid to offer unsolicited advice (even to total strangers). He embraced life with unmatched energy, filling his days with adventure, from kayaking and biking in the summer to skiing 100 days a year in the winter. A self-proclaimed "JewBu" (Jewish Buddhist), he blended spirituality with a deep, thoughtful philosophy on life.
Lloyd's career began in the shoe business in Rochester NY, before he became a McDonald's restaurant owner-operator in Fair Haven, VT-but no job defined him more than being a devoted husband and father. He adored his wife of 43 years, Suellen Schneider, and his two daughters, Rachel and Meryl Schneider, more than anything-and they loved him just as fiercely. Lloyd was the glue that held their family together, and his loss leaves an irreplaceable void.
Music made Lloyd feel alive, whether he was dancing at a live show or just jamming out in the car. He was an avid traveler, who found meaning in learning about other cultures, especially through his love of food. His closest friends saw him as a brother, and his daughters' friends considered him a second parent.
Lloyd loved his life - he lived fully, laughed often, and left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the ACLU or the Ronald McDonald House Charities, two causes he deeply cared about. Thank you to all that knew and loved Lloyd and helped make his life extraordinary. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lloyd, please visit our Tree Store.
