Lois Ronnie Adelman

Lois R Adelman, aged 89, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2025 in the company of her husband. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she lived a full life. Born in Paterson, New Jersey to Doris and Samuel Kalmens, she grew up in Fairlawn very quickly, learning to take care of herself as her immigrant parents worked hard to make a living. That independent nature swept her off to New York University until she obtained her MRS., marrying Jay Adelman. Lois was predeceased by Jay in 1981, but not before sharing three children that were the love of her life. In 1982 Lois found a new love Phil Benamy, they married, and shared 43 blessed years together. She never enjoyed the snow, and moved with Phil to Florida, quickly making a new life in the sunshine state. Lois was anything but ordinary. Through her early years, Lois was involved in local politics, community theater and soldier shows. Lois was never shy to burst out a song or speak her mind. Not just for herself but for all of those around her. Despite her tough exterior, Lois was kindhearted and caring. The first to run to friends in need. Lois was an avid game player, enjoying anything that involved people and a challenge. She earned the rank of Gold life master in bridge. She loved live theater. She read voraciously. Funeral services will be held in a private ceremony at graveside at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, on September 15th at 10am. Donations may be made to Saint Jude's, American Heart Association or NPR in memory of Lois. Lois leaves behind her husband Phil Benamy, children Sue Glickman, Larry Adelman and his wife Clare, Leslie Adelman Banks and her husband Wayne, and four grandchildren, Kira Adelman, Julianne Adelman, Jenna Banks and Matthew Banks. She was also blessed with a great-grandson James Adelman Cuiffitelli. Lois was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
