Lois Carrano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kain-Murphy Funeral Services - Haddonfield on Jan. 28, 2026.
Lois Carrano, a woman of unwavering faith and immense love for her family, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 80 years old.

Born on August 24, 1945, Lois grew up in the vibrant neighborhoods of Brooklyn, where she developed the resilience and warmth that would define her life. It was in Brooklyn that she met James Carrano, the man who would become her lifelong partner. The two were married in 1968, beginning a journey of faith and family together. They later moved to Long Island to raise their large, bustling family before eventually settling in New Jersey.

Lois's life was a living testament to her Christian faith. Within her church, she was a pillar of the community, serving as a beloved mentor in the Awana program and a dedicated member of the Women's Auxiliary.

Her compassion reached far beyond the walls of the church. For years, Lois served as a volunteer for a suicide prevention hotline in Canada, offering a steady, loving voice to those in their deepest moments of despair. She had a rare gift for listening and a heart that naturally gravitated toward helping the vulnerable. In addition to her volunteer work, Lois was known for her sharp mind and helpful spirit in her professional life. She was a familiar face at H&R Block, where she worked for many years in tax preparation, guiding her clients with the same care and precision she applied to everything in life.

Lois's greatest pride was her family. As a mother to eight, she was the anchor of a bustling, lively home. Her capacity to nurture was so vast that she also served as a foster mother, providing a safe haven and a mother's love to many children in need over the years.

Lois is survived by her four sisters, Annajane, May, Susan, Patricia and one brother, Henry, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

Her legacy of love continues through her children: Theodore, Venera (Bob), Jimmy, Joseph, Florence, Rose (Dan) and Andrew (Jasneet), numerous nieces and nephews and other dear family members. She was predeceased by her sons, Christopher and John.

She was also the doting grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandbabies each of whom she cherished as a unique blessing.

A celebration of Lois's life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29, at First Baptist Church of Haddonfield, 124 Kings Hwy E. Viewing 10 a.m.–12 p.m.; Ceremony at 12 p.m (Cemetery to follow).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blood Cancer United (www.bloodcancerunited.org) or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
