John Carrano Obituary
Rudy passed away peacefully at home with his wife Kate at his side after a thirteen-year war with MDS.
He is safely home with his Lord and free from all of the pain. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rudy was the youngest of 8 children and the only son of his mom's second marriage. Growing up in Brooklyn during the Depression and war years was hard, but the love and faith of his mother and much older brothers and sisters and his love of baseball and all things sports, provided him with the strength and grace to handle all of the adversities life would throw at him. Even at the hardest of times in childhood his family would share their blessings with each other and music was essential.
Never one to dwell on "could'a, would'a, should'a", Rudy lived life to the fullest, raising four children with his first wife Rosemary on Long Island. Rudy was a devoted family man, a man of deep faith, proud bricklayer, avid gardener, golfer, who loved music and loved to dance. And despite their records was a devoted fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Jets and New York Rangers. (There was always next year). Foremost, oh how he loved his family, and when he and Kate were married in 1999, he extended that love to his father-in-law Ed (AKA Dad) and his new big Irish family.
Rudy is survived by his wife Kate, sons John (Pat), Carl, Col. Anthony (Katy); six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, brothers in law Mark (Benie), Paul (Julie), many nieces and nephews and oh so many friends. Rudy was predeceased by his first wife and childhood sweetheart Rosemary, and his beautiful daughter Rose.
Inurnment will be in the early spring at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Westchester County where he and Kate lived for many years.
A final message from Rudy: "Be kind and do not waste a single day of your life!"
