Lois Wysocki Crouse, 67, of Athens, passed away suddenly on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
Lois was born on March 8, 1958, to John and Shirley Wysocki in Kingston, and was raised in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre. A proud graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1976, Lois went on to pursue her calling in nursing at the Robert Packer School of Nursing, graduating in 1979.
In 1980, Lois married Robert Crouse, and together they moved to Richmond, Virginia, where they had their daughter, Allyson. Lois worked for nine years at Chippenham Hospital. During that time, she forged lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply. In 1989, Lois and Allyson returned to Pennsylvania and settled in Athens, where she began what would become a remarkable 35-year career at Robert Packer Hospital. She served with compassion and dedication on Six North West and later in endocrinology, retiring after decades of caring for others with skill, kindness, and grace.
In retirement, Lois embraced life with the same enthusiasm she brought to her work. She loved traveling with her sister and close friends, exploring South America, the Panama Canal, Iceland, Norway, Belgium, and Amsterdam. Always high-spirited, Lois lived life to the fullest and found joy in new experiences, laughter, and connection.
Lois was deeply devoted to her community. She volunteered at the local food pantry, sang with the Valley Chorus, and was an active member of the Athens United Methodist Church. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family — especially visiting her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, and sharing countless moments with her beloved sister Linda. Outside of her daughter and grandchildren, there was no one Lois loved more dearly than her sister, who was also her lifelong best friend.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Allyson, and her husband, Michael Chamberlain; her cherished grandchildren, Mason and Gracelyn; her sister and best friend, Linda; her beloved brother-in-law, Richard Taubar; her nephews, Rich Taubar; and Michael Taubar and wife, Katie; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
She was a friend to all and could often be found visiting those she cared about. The size of her smile was only outdone by the size of her heart.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John and Shirley Wysocki, of Wilkes-Barre.
A memorial service celebrating Lois will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Athens United Methodist Church, 118 S. Main St., Athens.

Lois was my nursing school roomate. We had so much fun and so many laughs. We were often told "to quiet down" because we laughed so much. We were in touch every year at Christmas and had made plans to get together in this new year. I was blessed to have her in my life. She will be missed... RIP my friend.
