Lois Ilene Johnson, age 86, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in
Bentonville, surrounded by her children and a deep sense of love.
Born on February 15, 1939, the daughter of Ralph and Irene (Frank) Campbell, Lois grew
up on the farm in Irwin, Iowa, and being the only girl of 5 children, it was there she
formed a strong, hardy, and sometimes stubborn character, which really served her well
when she started dating her high school sweetheart husband-to-be, Darrell Johnson, who
she married on January 24, 1957. In high school, she sang in the women's sextet, choir,
and was described as "a swell girl with a quick smile and ready laugh."
Lois had a grace and elegance to her that warmed the room everywhere she went. She
was firm yet compassionate, adventurous, loved to laugh and have fun, was very loving,
and delightfully ornery beyond what anyone would ever think. She lived her entire life
loving on her family the best that anyone could, and would always let them know how
much she loved them. In return, they let her know how much she was loved right back.
As someone who loved to entertain, she was a wonderful hostess, decorator as well as
cook! Her house was always decorated, inviting, and ready to accept a visitor! She
relished having family and friends over for gatherings large and small, especially
holidays, with having the whole family over for "Christmas at Thanksgiving" being the
highlight of her year, where she would make sure her grandkids had no less than 10
gallons of puppy chow snacks to welcome them to "Nanny and Papa's" house. To this
day no one is sure who enjoyed it more; her making it or the grandkids eating it! No one
was a stranger to her home. Her husband, 4 kids, 12 grandchildren and her 15 great-
grandchildren, and the rest of her friends and family were loved beyond measure. As
Darrell loved to say, "we are so blessed!" She left an amazing legacy for all.
In addition to loving her family, extended family, and vast network of friends around the
country, she loved her Savior, Jesus. She enjoyed serving at her church, Cross Church, in
Rogers, and being part of the women's ministry, where she served Summit lunches,
helped decorate for events and holidays, as well as greeted people on Sundays for church
services. She also played the piano, sang and hummed hymns all her life, smiled, and
thanked God for the blessings He gave her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Irene Campbell, her brothers
Donald Campbell and Vernon Campbell, and her beloved husband, Darrell Johnson. She
is survived by her four children, Brian (Jody) Johnson, Carmen Larson, Sheryl Carman, and Ron Johnson, her brothers Norman (Donna) Campbell, Lyle (Gloria) Campbell, her
sister-in-law Nora, her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at The
Chapel on the Creeks in Rogers, Arkansas, and a memorial service and luncheon at 11:00
a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Irwin Community Center, followed by a
committal service at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa.
Lois will be remembered for her kind heart, fun and gentle spirit, and the love she shared
so freely with those around her.
The family would also like to express a special thank you to Village on the Park for their
amazing care and community they provided her in the last chapter of her life.
