Lois Kahn, age 93 died peacefully on July 19, 2025 at Gosnell House. Lois was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 21, 1932. She was a long-time resident of Worcester living there for over 65 years before moving to Maine.
She was the daughter of Dorothy and Harry Bielfeld. She graduated from Classical High School, attended Smith College and Graduated from Clark University. In 1952 she married Richard Kahn, and they raised four children in Worcester. Her passions were her family and teaching middle school social studies. She taught for over 30 years and was recognized by many of her students as an inspiring teacher. She enjoyed reading, sailing, tennis, skiing and playing bridge. After retirement, she and Dick enjoyed travel and visiting friends and family. Most importantly she loved seeing and visiting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew and matured.
Her parents Dorothy and Harry and her husband of 66 years predeceased her. She is survived by her sister Elaine Smith and husband Steve, Brother Arthur Bielfeld, children Jeffrey Kahn and wife Nancy, Debbie Kahn Meagher and husband Jim, Howard Kahn and wife AnnMarie and Bruce Kahn, grandchildren Jennifer (Meagher) and husband Josh Loring, Haley Kahn, Danielle (Kahn) and Husband Billy Norton, Brandon Meagher and wife Chelsea, Olivia Kahn, Alison (Kahn) and husband Jake Erricolo and great grandchildren Grady & Addie Loring and Mara Norton.
A graveside Funeral Services will be held at B'nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester Massachusetts at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday July 23. A Memorial Observance will be held at the home of Elaine and Steve Smith from 5 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday July 24 at 5 Canterbury Way, Cape Elizabeth. with a service at 6 P.M.
