Lois Mae Kestel, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa died August 17, 2025 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will take place Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in SCHALLER. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Lois Mae Kestel was born August 5, 1939 in Elgin, Nebraska to Anton "Tony" and Lauretta (Mooney) Overmohle. While attending grade school in Roselle, Iowa the family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where Lois attended St. Mary's School and graduated in May of 1957. Lois and Norm Kestel were married May 2, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with 7 children: Vicki, Connie, Kathy, Mary Beth, Michele, twins Kim and Jim; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Lois spent many years at home nurturing and raising her children to become wonderful adults. After her children were raised she worked as a secretary for Jim Bisenius in the insurance business. After that she worked as a secretary for Schaller-Crestland Schools for 20 years before she retired to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Lois enjoyed providing many home cooked meals and baked goods for her children, family, and friends. She put many hours in sewing clothes for her children. Lois loved the holidays and was always a gracious host to her family and friends. The joy she saw on her children's and grandchildren's faces during the holidays filled her heart with so much love. Lois enjoyed her adventures to the casino with family and friends but has now gained the riches of heaven. Lois treasured her family. They were the most important part of her life, and she would spend as much time with them as possible. Those left to cherish her memory include children: Vicki (Kent) Turnquist, Connie (Doug) Davidson, Kathy (Dan) Kluver, Mary Beth (David) Wandrey, Michele (Dale) Wiese, Kim (Greg) Sjuts), Jim (Missy) Kestel; grandchildren: Jamie Turnquist, Ryan (Kelli) Turnquist, Kelsey (Nathan) Corlew, Michael (Allyson) Davidson, Katie (Joe) Thraen, Calvin (Mandy) Kluver, twins Lisa (AJ) Dahm and Lindsay (Nick) Newquist, Matt (Nicole) Wandrey, Zach Wiese, Connor Wiese, Lauren (TJ) Brandt, Tyler (fiancé Andrea) Sjuts, twins Jacob Sjuts and Jason Sjuts, Allison (Jonah) Kistenmacher, Rebecca (Dane) Pestano, Ashley Kestel; Great Grandchildren: Autumn, Rilynn, Gracelyn, twins Noah and Ivy, Ezra, Micah, Raelyn, Koe, Jordan, Landen, Cooper, Oliver, Hadley, Aubree, twins Ella and Elyse, Neely, Barker, Ripley, Esther, Kinzley; brother, Luvern (Eileen) Overmohle; sister, Betty (Don) Schmitt; sisters-in-law: Nancy Overmohle, Phyllis Fisher; brother-in law, David Breon; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Loretta Overmohle; her husband Norm; brothers, Leo (Rosemary) and Don (Butch) Overmohle; sisters: Rita (Fred) Jansen, Rosie (Francis) Koch, Mary Breon; grandson, Kyle Davidson; parents-in-law: Albert and Catherine Kestel; brothers-in-law: Dick Kestel, Paul Fisher; sister-in law, Jean Kestel. Lois's family would like to express much appreciation to all the people who took care of and loved their mother and grandmother. They would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and nurses aides at Methodist Manor who made sure that Lois was comfortable and loved the past three years. Thank you to all family and friends who visited Lois and brought joy to her days. From all of us kids, sweet mama, LOVE YOU MORE!
