Lois Loretta Lewis

Mrs. Lois L. Lewis, age 92 of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held 11 am Saturday, October 25, 2025 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Mrs. Lewis will be interred in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park alongside her husband, Henry Robert "Bob"Lewis who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents Gladys Ruth Jensen Serfling and Leonard Hugh Serfling, daughter and son in law Ellen and Brad DeLoach, and brothers Daniel, David, and Lenny Serfling. She is survived by her daughters Linda Hursh (Doug) of Adairsville, Jeanette Sanderson of Powder Springs, sisters Klara Serfling, Judy Rainey, brother Mike Serfling, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Lois was originally from Minnesota and grew up on a dairy farm. She came to Georgia in 1953. Lois retired from Lockheed Martin in September 1990 after 25 years of service as an avionics technician working primarily on C130 Hercules.
Lois was presented the "Mrs. Smyrna 2005"award on January 27, 2005. After 27 years of Keep Smyrna Beautiful board service, Lois was awarded the "Carolyn Crayton Woman of the Year Award" in 2019 from Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation for all of her tremendous efforts. Lois also was a dedicated volunteer for 35 years at the North Georgia State fair. She found innumerable ways to share her love of the Fair from entertaining children at the kindergarten tours to helping in the non-commercial exhibits. She managed to nurture the same love of the fair through four generations of her family. The "Lois Lewis Award" for Youth & Special Population Exhibitors was created in her honor in 2022. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to BrightFocus Foundation. The family will receive friends after the service in the family celebration center at the funeral home. Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna is in charge of arrangements.
