Rosaleen Mary Carroll

Rosaleen "Rose" Mary Carroll (née O'Hara), age 80, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. A mass to celebrate her life will take place on Saturday, August 30th at 10:00 am at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Smyrna, GA.
A strong and loving Catholic woman, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing comfort and guidance throughout her journey. Born in New York, NY, where she later met her husband, she carried a profound love for her Irish heritage and cherished her lifelong connection to Ireland and her parents. Rose was an amazing and talented runner who inspired her family and others to stay active and fit. For over three decades starting in the 1980s, she achieved top finishes in her age group in numerous races across the Atlanta and Tampa areas.
She treasured her family-her beloved husband Tom, her son Tommy, and her two daughters, Susan and Ellen. Her fun-loving nature and gentle spirit created lasting bonds that will continue to comfort those she leaves behind. She approached life with grace and authenticity, embracing her role as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
Rose loved the ocean and the beach, enjoying her time living in Florida. She had a deep connection to the water, having grown up clam digging along the Northeast Coast in the Summers and later enjoying fishing trips on the boat in the Gulf and spending time at the beach with friends and family.
A devoted animal lover, Rosaleen had a special fondness for Bearded Collies and welcomed many furry companions into her home over the years. Her compassion extended to all creatures, great and small. She was a proud patriot who held strong convictions about her love for our country and her husband, Tom Carroll, who served in the United States Army.
Rosaleen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Joseph Carroll, her parents Michael O'Hara and Catherine (Vaugh) O'Hara, and her brothers Rory and Michael O'Hara. She is survived by her loving children Susan Carroll (Jim Threlkeld), Ellen Carroll (James G. Schmitt), Thomas Carroll (Leslie Carroll), granddaughter Josephine Threlkeld and sister Veronica Clements.
