Lois Emily (Green) Mahoney, 93, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Hamilton Township, NJ, the same community she proudly called home for her entire life. Born on November 16, 1931, in Trenton, she was the daughter of Arthur and Emily (Gafgen) Green.
Lois met the love of her life, William "Bill" Mahoney, as a teenager, and the two shared 77 wonderful years together. Married in 1950, they built a lifetime of laughter, love, and music. Lois passed away just four days before Bill, a reflection of a bond that could never be broken. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on November 4.
Music was at the heart of Lois's life. She began singing in her church choir at age ten and continued for more than seven decades, sharing her voice at countless services, weddings, and community events. A founding member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square, she was known for her bright smile, beautiful voice, and generous heart.
Family was everything to Lois. She encouraged her children and grandchildren in every endeavor from sports and academics to music and dance she was always their biggest fan. Known lovingly as "G-Mom", she opened her bustling home to everyone, filling it with warmth, laughter, and the sound of music. Her pies at Thanksgiving were legendary, she would bake nearly two dozen for family and friends. The quick wit and humor she shared with Bill became a hallmark of their home, a joyful spirit that has been passed down through generations of their family.
Outside of her love for music and family, Lois found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid fan of jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy!, and Wheel of Fortune, rarely missing an episode. A cancer survivor of more than 50 years, she faced every challenge in life with grace, resilience, and quiet strength.
She is survived by her children, William (Mary) Mahoney, Tim (Barbara) Mahoney, Brian Mahoney, and Michael (Tara) Mahoney; grandchildren, Maura (Kevin) Joyce, Taryn (Steve) DiSorbo, Christopher (Jackie) LeFevre, Timothy (Victoria) Mahoney, Keira Mahoney, Cathryn (Mike) White, Elizabeth (Tim) Fitzgerald, Meghan (Brandon) Gilkes, and Sean (Darien) Mahoney; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois's love of music, family, and laughter will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the joy of knowing her.
Interment will be held privately.
Visitation for family and friends to honor Mr. and Mrs. Mahoney will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with Funeral Services directly following, at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
